Why merging without uploading matters

Most online PDF mergers upload your files to their server, merge them there and keep them for a while before deleting them. For a menu or a flyer that is fine. For a signed contract, a bank statement or a medical letter, it means a copy of the document now sits on a stranger's computer.

Does merging change the pages?

No. Pages are copied across whole, not re-rendered, so text stays selectable and searchable and images keep their original resolution. The combined file is roughly the size of the originals added together.

What it cannot do

A PDF that asks for a password before it opens cannot be merged until the password is removed. If you know the password, the PDF Unlocker removes it, also without uploading.
