About the Darts 301
A real game of 301 for two to five players. Start a game, share the room code, and everyone throws at the same board from their own phone or laptop — scores, busts, checkouts and all. Aim where you like, steady your hand, and let go. The connection is peer-to-peer, so there is no server keeping score and no account to make.
How to use it
- 1Type your name and create a room.
- 2Send the code, or the invite link, to as many as four friends.
- 3They enter the code and appear on the board straight away.
- 4Tap the board to aim, tap again to throw — three darts each, first to exactly zero wins the leg.
What you get
- Two to five players in the same live game
- A real dartboard: trebles, doubles, both bulls and the wire between them
- Aim-and-steady throwing that rewards timing, on touch, mouse or keyboard
- Proper 301 rules including busts and finishing on a double
- Suggested checkout routes, so you learn the way out of 170
- Running three-dart averages, darts thrown and legs won
- Peer-to-peer over WebRTC — no account, no server, no database
Frequently asked questions
How many people can play?
Five, including whoever starts the game. Everyone plays from their own device and sees the same board and the same scores at the same time.
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
No. One player creates a room and gets a five-character code. Anyone who types that code into the same page joins the game. Nothing is stored and no account exists.
How does throwing work?
Tap the board where you want the dart to land. A ring appears and pulses in and out around that point — tap again to release. The dart lands somewhere inside the ring, so the tighter the ring is when you let go, the closer you land to what you aimed at. Arrow keys and the space bar do the same job without a mouse.
What is a bust?
A dart that would take you below zero, or leave you on exactly one, or land you on zero without a double when double-out is on. Your score goes back to where it was at the start of the turn and the darts pass on. It is the rule that makes the last few points the hard part.
Do I have to finish on a double?
By default yes, which is how 301 is normally played: the winning dart must land in a double or the bullseye. The host can turn that off in the lobby for a quicker, friendlier game.
What is the checkout hint?
When your score can be finished with the darts you have left, DO101 shows one way to do it — 170 as T20, T20, Bull, for instance. It is a suggestion, not a requirement, and it quietly disappears for scores like 169 that cannot be checked out at all.
How long does a room last?
Only while the host's tab is open. There is no database holding rooms — close the tab and the room is gone, which is also why nothing about your game is stored anywhere.
Why did the connection fail?
Some corporate firewalls and mobile networks block the peer-to-peer traffic WebRTC needs. DO101 tells you plainly when that happens instead of pretending someone has joined.
